Fisetin treatment significantly reduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in hypertrophic hearts and cardiomyocytes.

 In addition, fisetin significantly up-regulated the expression of antioxidant genes, including catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) and heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1). In addition, co-treatment of N-acetylcysteine ​​(NAC, ROS scavenger) and fisetin had no synergistic inhibitory effect on PE-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, indicating that the anti-hypertrophic effect of fisetin is mainly related to blocking oxidative stress. .

Finally, after pressure overload and PE treatment, pro-hypertrophic signaling pathways, mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) kinase were found to be inhibited by fisetin.
